It is with great pleasure that Gallifrey One announces the confirmation of the legendary SIR DEREK JACOBI as a headline guest for our February 2024 convention, Gallifrey One’s Miracle on 34th Street.

Star of stage and screen, and one of Britain’s national treasures, Sir Derek Jacobi portrayed the Master (and his alter ego, Professor Yana) opposite David Tennant in 2007’s “Utopia,” fulfilling a life-long ambition of the actor to star in Doctor Who. He also voices the character in Big Finish Productions’ War Master audio series; voiced another version of the Master in the 2003 Doctor Who animated adventure “Scream of the Shalka” by Paul Cornell; and starred as Martin Bannister in Rob Shearman’s Doctor Who Unbound audio story “Deadline.”

Widely known for his starring role as Claudius in the 1976 BBC series, I, Claudius, for which he won a BAFTA Award for Best Actor, he has also received two Emmy Awards, for The Tenth Man and a guest shot in Frasier, and is known for his roles in Cadfael, the HBO film The Gathering Storm, the ITV sitcom Vicious alongside Sir Ian McKellen, and more recently in The Borgias, Last Tango in Halifax, The Sandman, The Crown and as the voice of Metatron in Good Omens. His film roles include The Day of the Jackal, Henry V, Dead Again, Hamlet, Gosford Park, The King’s Speech, Murder on the Orient Express, and as Senator Gracchus in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator (a role he will be reprising for the upcoming sequel.)  His many roles on the stage, which began with him as one of of the founding members of the National Theatre alongside luminaries such as Laurence Olivier, run the gamut of Shakespeare’s repetoire and include a 1985 Tony Award.

We are honored to be able to welcome Sir Derek to Gallifrey One this year, his first-ever Doctor Who appearance in North America, courtesy our friends at Showmasters Events.  Sir Derek will participate in two main stage interviews during his visit, one on Friday afternoon, and one Saturday, included with general admission.  He will also be autographing and doing photo ops on Saturday and Sunday, will do a VIP script reading on Sunday morning, will participate in our guest receptions on Friday & Saturday evenings, and has a separate Diamond Pass; all of these require purchase (see below.)  Additionally, he is included in the TARDIS Tag package.

We would like to thank Jason Joiner and Paul Jones at Showmasters for this rare opportunity, and also David Bickerstaff for his assistance confirming him.

Photo op presales, the Derek Jacobi Diamond Pass and the TARDIS Tag, and tickets for the Sunday morning script reading are now available at Convention Photo Shoots; tickets for our evening guest receptions will go on sale a bit closer to the convention.
